Legal profession is one of the most challenging and lucrative profession. It is adventurous as well as exciting career option. People are coming up with new inventions every day, and becoming more conscious about their rights and legal framework. Our laws are so complex, so in this type of complex situation the work and role of lawyers and judges is very significant. Moreover, the society is getting more civic conscious and aware about the legal procedures. A lawyer is an individual licensed by the state to engage in the practice of law and advice clients on legal matters. Lawyers are held in high esteem in our society. Lawyers are eligible to work as both advocates and advisors on behalf of their clients. As advocates, they represent either the plaintiff or the defendant. They represent on of the parties in criminal or civil trails. As advisors, lawyers counsel clients on how the fact of the particular case applies to the law.

Course Details:

A student can either pursue a three-year law course (LLB) after graduation in any discipline or can also pursue a five-year course after completion of their secondary examination leading to BA LLB (Hons.) degree. There are some universities that conduct entrance exam. Institutions like National Law School in Bangalore conduct all India level examination. The BA LLB programme generally covers practical training including court attendance, hands on training at legal aid centres and research projects. To become eligible to practice, it is compulsory to put in a year's internship. This may be done during the final year of the course. Many universities offer other diploma courses in several disciplines of law. Students can specialize in various branches such as civil law, criminal law, corporate law, income tax law, international labour law, patent law and constitutional law etc.

Career Opportunities: There are different aspects to a lawyer's work depending on which field they specialize in. Here are a few examples.

Private Lawyer: They primarily focus on civil or criminal law, representing private individuals. In civil law they pursue private law suits or litigation, or deal with wills, contracts, trusts, mortgages etc. A criminal lawyer entails arguing a client's case in court. Some lawyers only deal in larger, public interest cases that have wider social importance.

Trail Lawyer: Trail lawyer spend more time in court as compared to other lawyers. They spend their maximum time in conducting research, interviewing clients and witnesses and preparing the trail.

Corporate Lawyer: Corporate lawyers work mainly for corporate clients and advise them on legal issues around their business activities. As a corporate lawyer you are suppose to sort out issues related to contracts with other companies, government regulations, company disputes, patents etc.

Intellectual Property Lawyer: Intellectual property lawyer help to protect clients' claims to copyrights, creative work under contract, product designs and computer programs.

Patent Lawyer: Patent lawyers advise their clients on patent law, which allows them to guard their invention of a new product or process. This profession requires a lot of research work. Patent can only be granted only if the product or process is new and invented.

Insurance Lawyer: As insurance lawyer you are supposed to give advice insurance companies about legalities of insurance transactions, writing policies that are legal and correct.

Environmental Lawyer: Environmental lawyer can represent pressure groups, interest groups, and organisations who are working on issues related to environment, constructions, and geological and waste management firms.

Government Lawyer: Government lawyers work as prosecutors and defenders on behalf of the state within the judicial system.

    Are there any colleges outside india which provide law course immediately after 12th.i went through various big universities. What i found was a big disappointment. Every university gives a degree of law after an bachelor's degree.. Please help me with this query.
